Come check us out at the Women's Expo this weekend, Friday at Saturday from 11 AM to 8PM at the UCCU center in Orem . There will be give aways, a prize drawing and a carnival wheel to spin and win. There will also be a lot of other  booths and fun things to check out there. The Women's Expo is always a fun thing to attend. Lagoon Day

 We have had a busy summer here at Pediatric Smiles of Orem. While all the kids were out of school they came to see us at the Dentists office. This week we were able to do some fun things. On Tuesday we were able to go to Dr. Graf's Dr. Appreciation lunch where there was yummy food, a photo booth, and a prize drawing. Katie and I were lucky enough to see one of our friends who used to work next to us, now she is an awesome assistant for Dr. Graf.

 A few weeks ago Dr. Shepherd decided that the office needed a day of to go and have fun, celebrate our one year anniversary, and spend time together as office friends. So yesterday (Wednesday August 21st) We all got to spend the Day at Lagoon we had so much fun and made many good memories together as an office.  Here are some of the pictures we took of the staff at our exhausting fun filled day. Dr. Shepherd is the Best Boss!

New day, New Employee

This week was exciting we got a new employee to help out at our ever growing practice. You may have seen this face around our office in the past as Jake has been shadowing Dr. Shepherd and learning all he can before he heads off to dental school in a few years. We would like to give a big welcome to Jake our NEWEST employee.

Jake Has been helping out at Pediatric Smiles of Orem for the past year. He has been shadowing Dr. Shepherd and learning from the best. Jake is currently attending he Uof U and is majoring in pre-dentistry (biology), with a minor in chemistry. Jake's wife just recently had a little baby boy (who is extremely cute) and this baby is keeping Jake on his toes. We are excited to have Jake as our newest addition. He is hard working, dedicated, positive and motivated. We look forward to having Jake on our team for the foreseeable future.


This week Dr. Shepherd received an awesome piece of art work from one his patients, we all love getting drawings and pictures from our patients. Feel free to bring in a picture and we will display it in our waiting room area. Look our for our upcoming blog post. until next week my friends.

CPR

We all had a great time renewing our CPR certificates this week, We had a fire fighter Jason come in and spend an afternoon with us refreshing our memories on how to preform CPR in the correct way. It recently got changed to CAB ( Compression/Airway/Breathing). We went over what we had to do in different situations and for different age patients.

We also went over how to block an airway on a chocking victim. Got to practice our chest thrust as you never know when you will need to use them. I am glad to tell you that we all passed the test and are up to date on our certification. 

Meet Our Staff!!

We decided it was time to revamp our blog and keep all of you wonderful readers up to date with the happenings at Pediatric Smiles of Orem. We love to have fun, learn, and share everything we do. So stay tuned to see our weekly blog updates.This week I decided to post about our WONDERFUL, Spectacularly talented dentist Dr. Shepherd, and his fabulous staff so you can get to know us a little.

Dr. Shepherd

Dr. Shepherd:
Dr, Shepherd is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the state university of New York at Buffalo school of Dental Medicine in 2009.
Dr. Shepherd has four wonderful children, two boys and two girls they keep him on his toes when he not busy at the office. Dr. Shepherd is wonderful with children and can not wait to work with you and your children.





Our Dental Assistants: 

Lily

If you want to have a fun time make sure you talk to Lily she is the life of our office and keeps everything upbeat and happy. She always has something funny to share and all the children she gets to work with LOVE her. Lily is one of the foreigners in our office she is originally from La Paz, Bolivia she is fluent in Spanish, and can help with all of your dental needs.

Stephanie

Stephanie has been a dental assistant for over eight years, she has worked in several offices and has been part of our team since April of 2012 when we opened. Stephanie is very caring and patient with children and does a great job of helping them feel safe. Steph loves to work at Pediatric Smiles of Orem and we love seeing her great smile on a daily basis.

Chelsie

Chelsie, the new girl on the block is one of the sweetest  girls around. If your children have any fears Chelsie can calm their nerves and help them feel comfortable and safe. Chelsie just recently got married to the love of her life and is enjoying married life. She is a fantastic assistant and always teaches the kids how important it is to keep their teeth clean. Chelsie is a wonderful addition to our team.

Our Office Managers:

Katie

Katie has been our financial coordinator since January she will help you with all of your financial needs. She is kind, caring, and understanding and wants to help where she can. Katie has also been trained as a dental assistant so don't be surprised if you see her helping out with your children. She is happy and bubbly and so much fun to work with.

Gemma

Then there is me I have worked at Pediatric Smiles since August of 2012. Before becoming a member of this wonderfully fun team I taught 2nd grade where Dr. Shepherd's oldest daughter was in my class. I am the one who answers the phones, calls you to schedule your hygiene appointments, and gets to enjoy your company when you arrive. I love my job and couldn't imagine working anywhere else.
